Open to all - it is casual and conversational - and NOW it will be every Wednesday night!
September 10th is the return of Bible Study as we jump back in to the Gospel of John. Come and join in - it is a wonderful group of seekers, cynics, and the curious.
Part of the divine mystery is that sometimes we - as humans- don’t recognize a ‘visitation’ until it has already passed.
This Sunday, our topic is about the signs that God was present or at work - but we didn’t pick it up on it until afterward.
There are at least 5 examples of this in our scriptures and yet it is a pattern that most people don’t know is a thing and many of us have never thought about how to pick up on the pattern.
Join us this Sunday at 10am for a vibrant conversation including some contemporary examples.
We are looking for someone to lead our singing on Sunday mornings. If you know anyone who might be interested, please see the working Job Description below.
Email bo@twin.church with any questions.
Music Coordinator, Part-time
Twin First UMC seeks an enthusiastic, flexible, collaborative, and skilled musician to lead our growing community in worship.
About us
Twin First UMC is a historic congregation that is transitioning into a hybrid style of musical worship that honors the tradition and integrates it into a contemporary expression of congregational participation.
Our church entertains big ideas, longs for meaningful worship, and prioritizes community service. We strive to be an oasis for those seeking deeper connection with the Divine, self, and others; an inclusive place for learning and spiritual renewal; a loving and accepting community dedicated to service and justice. We are a small, growing church located in the heart of historic downtown Twin Falls, with congregants from all over the city. An intergenerational community, we welcome at all levels of ministry people of all races, colors, genders, sexual orientations, national origins, ages, and abilities.
About The Job
This is a part-time (10 hours per week) position requiring that you:
- Play keyboard* and lead singing at our single Sunday morning service throughout the year; additional services may be held during the seasons of Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas.
*Note: piano is preferred, but we are open to guitar as well; proficiency in two instruments is ideal.
- Attend once monthly worship-planning meetings with the pastor.
- Attend once monthly staff meeting.
- Collaborate in worship planning by researching and suggesting fitting music, both old and new.
- Occasionally recruit and lead a church choir (vocal or bell) for special occasions.
- Occasionally recruit musicians to participate or perform during worship.
- Coordinate quarterly organ usage before or during worship gatherings.
Workflow
The main emphasis is that the ministry coordinator is present for the Sunday morning time block (9:30am – 12:30pm) and the secondary time commitment is for one other day (your choice) per week (2-4 hours). This other day will be for practice and song selection for the service 3 weeks in advance. Thursday at noon is the weekly deadline for current week projects. Everything for this coming Sunday needs to be done so that slides and printouts can finalized by our staff and volunteers.
Please submit application materials no later than July 10, 2024 to TFFUMC@gmail.com
Application should include:
- Resume or CV, including names and contact information for three professional references.
- Cover letter, introducing yourself and your specific interests related to this position.
- Music sample, 3-5 minutes of your playing & singing submitted via .mp3 file.

The next month brings lots of finishes and beginnings.
This Sunday (April 6) is our wrap-up of the Daniel Sermon Series (you can find the YouTube series here) with Daniel 12 as followed by communion to close the service.
The following week (April 13) is Palm Sunday and we are going to look at Jesus at the most excitable moment of his life and the most normal moments of his life. Hint: both have to do with tables.
The next week is Easter! That will be a wonderful celebration and the message will be a fun and lively look at the importance of time and choices.
We will also be getting ready for a new sermon series that begins the following week. We are going to crowd-source Bible verses should be read in schools if Idaho chooses to require it.
April 27 we talk about “Why Read The Bible At All?” - and you will not want to miss that one!
Then will begin a walk though vital Bible verses that should read - if you are going to mandate the reading of Bible verses.
Please send your suggestions to Pastor Bo at bo@twin.church
The next couple of weeks will be fun in our conversational Sunday School class at 10am.
This coming Sunday (April 6) we will circle back in our study of world religions to talk about Hinduism from the book “God Is Not One” and then we will look at the Methodist “Social Principles” [link here].
The following week (April 13) we will do a recap of our comparative study of world religions and then talk about the article “Why Easter Christians Won’t Be Back”. Things are changing, that is obvious, and we need to talk about some important implications of those changes.
Then we have Easter Sunday (April 20) and between the Sunrise Service and Centennial Park and the 11am worship gathering in the sanctuary, we will have a catered breakfast in the Friendship Room. No Sunday School that day.
We come back on April 27 for a new set of topics like “How Covid Changed Us” look-back 5 years on.
Come and join in these engaging conversations at 10am in the Friendship Room. You can also email Pastor Bo at bo@twin.church with suggestions of topics that you would like to talk about.

Join in at 11am either in-person or on FBlive. You will be encouraged and inspired.
In Sunday School we are looking at the Jewish tradition and all of its diversity.
Then we will look at the early Methodism and what made it the largest denemination in the US.
All are welcome. It is a conversational format where we compare notes and share different perspectives. Join in-person or on Zoom.
We have an opening for somebody new in the 'Tech' rotation. If you are willing to serve once a month and can hit the 'next' button to advance the slides ... we could really use your help!

We have a unique opportunity to help 120 people to get jobs this Wednesday.
Many of them are new to our country and they have interviews that will help them get paid before March 1 when they need to pay rent.
All you need to to do is go through your closet and donate clothes that you would wear to a job interview.
3 Point Plan:
Pull aside anything you have not worn in a year or that does not fit you anymore.
Bring it to the 2nd floor of the Twin UMC building.
Do it Sunday or Monday so that our job-seekers can pick out their outfits on Tuesday.
Please Email Pastor Bo with any questions : bo@twin.church
We are beginning a new journey in ‘The Odd Wednesday’ Bible Study. We are going to read the story of Jonah as a 4 act play.

Come and join in. All are welcome.
